What this blog is about

As you have reckoned this blog is mainly speaking/writing about one subject I have at heart Culture, in fact CULTURE. The kind of that gives perspective to the things happening.
Well, yes, here culture might be hampering action, still I do believe culture is effectively aiming at a good set of actions. Out of the box, in the box, whatever, just think. Culture is this gem that we shouldn’t look to standardize. Every country has one of its own, and that’s for the best. Because between me, and Alfred, there are as much differences as there are similarities, it is the best recipe to cook well.

I wrote quite a while ago a motto I do enjoy: books cook our looks. Yes, in the equation of culture, books, and literature in general, is one main agent, the mixer if I dare, exposing ideas in different situations. And in a world fully super connected, quick as hell, frozen as the sun, with reactions giving no meaning no more to the word of pro-activity, I do believe books cook our looks. It gives us the perspective, it gives us some witness, and most of all, it gives us some thoughts of older times that holds still true today.

I was some time ago spending some time and attention at a corner of the following discussion:
-          World is more insecure now than before
-          Before what?
-          I don’t go out at night, I am scared
-          Why are you scared?
-          It is very insecure now
-          Well, forties years ago
-          Well, I don’t believe in that, at that time, we might have had the same amount, still it wasn't published in the medias as now

I cannot remove here that yes we have new roots for the social unsettlement we might be subject of, still I do believe standing out and putting in prospective is what history brings best. So in a word like in a hundred, I am happy to see around every corners thinkers and readers, and I am grateful to see on the next corners people acting.

In a world where information is passing through everywhere, distorting through every perceptions, understood through every confusion, we are alive. Information is not a power of decision by itself. Still, information is an important part of the decision process.

Reframing it on our daily life, as we open our computer, log on and unlog, and relog, we can feel we are opening again and again the door of nonsense: a flow of datas coming from a context of the initial writer, the first filter to the jigsaw appearing smoothly to our eyes. Are we able to put that in prospective? Do we need to challenge any assumptions? No, yes, what is the goal. It depends mainly of this question. Now are we able to do that? Yes only if we acknowledge we have to put efforts in the process.

Only 3 subjects are coming to my mind when thinking of the current imbalance of our world. And from it, the most important I see is about culture, and how we can ensure differences, as well as similarities, are taking equal parts in an equation that brings more light to the day. And the day we will learn from the past, and live for the present will be the right day of progress. Not getting eaten by old daemons, but still not giving birth to new ones.

At a time where we might think human race is nearly reaching the end of the road of progress, the essence, I believe, is to consider the equation again, with what I say the three roots causes that imbalanced it radically.

One way of thinking I have, and that I am standing strongly for, is to consider nothing as given, all things as dynamic and essentially irrational. Tools or Way of life?

What is for you information system, finance, politics, literature, means of communication, medias, a tool or a way of life? Like I am not idealizing anybody given we are all humans with its fair share of negative and positive points, I will not do it for a system.

It s only my vision here, I cannot escape to see that finance has reached the global superpower above us all. A revolution is aimed at persons, how do you do that in finance, in IT, in system of thoughts like capitalism? We would need to change the rules, simply. This system is evolving in a network based on rules, abusing some of them, so references have to be dynamic. Tools have to remain tools, not to replace our thinkings.

Like any others, in IS in Finance, in Literature, in all topics,  there is only one step to do in order to let them overcome us. I am not prepared for that. For people in action yes, for a system no.
Still, as I have many voices going around at this moment in time in my twisted head, Here comes one thought: it is the imbalance that defines the balance, it s from it that we can be aware of what is balance. Balance is not an end goal, but something to what we are tending to. At least I believe.
Like any tools, we are here to ensure we create the frame for it. System are developed in frames, it is from where we are drawing our strengths. After, like any products or services in our modern world, it is only a matter of are we reaching the critical mass to overthrow this power?

Culture is by essence a medium of exchange, a power of negotiation, far above the solely financial ones. It is nowadays in imbalance, because politics are not business men, while they currently appear as. A country is not a business, and here comes my strong disagreement with any capitalistic economics philosophy around, this belief, this doctrine, is only one way of thinking, Still it is missing one essential point, Economy 101 is too much rational, or in other words, rational economists cannot understand our world given every equation is made of parameters local and particular, not global and overall.

So what is this blog about? I don't know, round?

More than the royalty possibly received for each update, he browses through the book , looks around, twists it, and puts it back in place. It didn’t help him to understand whatever it should have in this mess. Deep into a famous faithless song, he only smiles at the fact he cannot find a fourth of cover to this book, no sum up. Either you go through it, and possibly lose yourself, or you ignore it.

time to accept the evil part of our history, or should we simply forget it ? FR EN

Is it time to accept the evil part of our history, or should we simply forget it ?

English

Comment posted on Celine on a debate : should we recognize or not Louis Ferdinand Celine. Whatever we might think, what Celine wrote, in the context we give to him, we are accountable of freedom of speech, and his books, either good or evil, above any individual perceptions, are part of our heritage. Do we choose to accept it, or to ignore it?

I had the unknown wish to participate to an online debate. It didn’t change, a modern disease I would call : the –ism disease. Far from the sophism, comments are commented on out of subject via some –ism I am sure you know. In a world where freedom of speech exists, I am advocating some civic education course for online means, something that can support and build on this freedom of speech: knowing from where the info is coming, the in, the environment it was done in, the process where the editorialist had the whole magazine released, to the output we are reacting to. Civism, not to be confused with political correctness, civism allows a debate to be constructive, what we need.

I am for a course of civic education of online medias: Like the standard course in politics, understanding the mechanism in which the information is digested and created.: From the perceptions of a journalist, to the editorialist working out on all articles of one release.

This links well to an article of Mr Finkielkraut, some pages after. French culture has/had? a strong foothold from literature. Our culture articulates itself around literature around founding aspects, whether we are speaking of philosophy or social contract. So should we be politically correct and only keep the one advocating the good and not understanding the evil.

We have/had a power to look back and criticize constructively by what we knew and searched to know. What is the place of literature nowadays? Staying away, or only filling up one out of a billion page of debate, aligning itself over the Manche river or the Atlantic ocean?

Literature is part of our culture, part of the blood giving life to our human being and our understanding or not. Culture is a recipe that has no end in time hopefully. It has to keep evolving. Immigration brings new ingredients, IT system new tools, Literature, however prevailing, can mix it all together. Identity is nothing alonge, culture is nothing alone.

One part of our culture here is cooking. Like cooking, a recipe needs to be adapted, built upon new ingredients. Far from molecular new modern cuisine, where each ingredient is discriminated, we can take impulse on our story to bring back further our modern culture. And create a wonderful dish.

This is a challenge. We can choose to face it, or to ignore it. Identity, surrounded by nothing, is nothing, identiy, supported by a world outside and an opened culture, is everything. Here comes the question: How will we find the adequation of all these elements?

Le monde d'hier - Stefan Zweig

couv-zweig-le-monde-d-hier.jpg

Egotantrism

Pardon my French, una mezcla of french, english, egocentrism and tantra. An idea that sprung to mind wishing happy 2011. Taking the opportunity to send you my wishes for 2011.

Now, Why this word? Ego, yourself, Tantrism, a centrism about what you have to offer, the foundations on what build your trust in yourself. Focusing on the fit rather than the misfit, instigating this new practice of looking deep inside, nurturing the child inside to take most of the opportunities coming around. Noticing them, and making the most of them.

Of course, there are other hidden meanings. Tantra is good when developed between several persons, so the idea is there to build on the community and the close ones around to foster the spring to fulfilling achievements.

Obviously, there are some limits, egocentrism is only good to the extent it doesn’t limit other freedom, same with egotantrism. Here the point is to develop your strengths, sell your value added for the value of the community.

Simple? Well, as any services, it has to be further defined, further understood, clearly delimited in the universe of understanding and the deepness of misunderstandings.

Because etymology beholds the key to a successful future, taking new words turn new meanings to suit where we are living in our times.

Eleven principles started from scratch and that offers the opportunity to be reviewed at any time
1.       Whatever the rumour has to say, have a look inside and see what you have to offer
2.       We are evolving in an environment, our life are still led by our own personal motivations
3.       Create yourself again and again until you fit with yourself
4.       Find the tools, what is the value added chain that truly push you forward?
5.       On what can you build on?
6.       What is your product?
7.       What realistic services can you offer?
8.       What unrealistic services can you offer?
9.       How can you make them fit in the current surrounding, with the current exterior actors?
10.   What will it bring to you in the short and long term future?
11.   How will you be recognize around?

Well, 11 principles written in 4 minutes, so review under process. Ego-tantrism is like anyone, a work in progress reviewing itself permanently.

"objective" voulues depuis longtemps.

sain.

Future of the business, right here, right now

On contents, on distribution, on a balance

Long long term, contents have its say, right now, distribution is what matters in our world where everything has to move fast and to be readily available. Along the corridor of the university, Edward calmly takes the right to the exit. On his way out, he meets a friend and a short discussion starts from there. As always, a discussion leading nowhere, should it, at least a food for thoughts

Topic: The creation of a GIE (Groupement d’interet economique) called ePresse premium. It gathers several newspapers on the French market. They decided to have their say in the overwhelming deal from actors having critical mass in the distribution to users: Google and Apple.[1] And the discussion that starts from there:

-Latest news, part of French newspapers don t want to be under the diktat of google and apple, hence a GIE, ePresse Premium

- As one of our professors said, "explain to me how tying several anchors together will make them float..."

- Throw an anchor to the big balloon hyperinflated in front of you.  The strategic battle is about contents. Who ensures/owns contents gonna deserve to stay, one thing is that in this game, there are no frames and no rules to follow, only a critical mass, I am sure Apple and Google don t care too much, here the US market helps them a lot.

- The battle isn't about content, it's about distribution. "Content holders" don't actually generate content.

- Well, I cannot refrain that, still, it s about content. there are plenty of way to find distribution and sell wind (bubok, publishing company, or others). Contents give the word of mouth, which give the coverage, which gives the distribution ... in an ideal world. Without content, we are nothing, and here the newspaper are the one creating contents from their employees who are settled in an organization to think and write. and reason why google is aiming to get google doc to take over microsoft office right now.

- Google docs vs Word is another issue entirely, mostly about desktop vs. cloud. Content is king, but newspapers don't generate content. They distribute the content that their writers produce. They don't make articles any more than record labels make music, writers make articles and musicians make music. Newspapers and record companies are in the distribution business.
Today, journalists and columnists can live without newspapers. Newspapers, however, cannot live without journalists and columnists. Google and Apple (in this case) are on the side of content generators, giving them a way to get distribution and get paid (if they're any good) without middlemen.

This discussion got short as looking back on it, they agreed more than they disagreed Cash is king, Content is emperor. As of conclusion, a final quick spell breezed over:

With no contents, there are no distribution. Distributing what?
With no distribution, one has to search for contents and value it, reason why customer centric business is the future.

As we were moving towards a technological society, the distribution system got totally rethought, taking shortcuts that only technology could offer. Now, we are deeply in a technological society. How will we  promote further contents, the kind of critical one that makes us unsettled, and rethink.

For most of what Edward understands, writers and philosophers are not writing simply to get rich, they are writing to enrich. E-Interaction is the distribution of the present, and well more than a simple distribution, it is the value of our present.

Still, how the mechanism of voicing out concerns away from standards is taking place once only some keys stakeholders have achieved the critical mass to overview it all and reach each of us?

Well, embrace the distribution, you still own your contents. Still, this initiative from ePresse Premium might create some potentially good precedents in getting contents back into where it belongs, the center of the field. so much democratize since the first move from Gutenberg
