Bad Again, it s an idea stolen this time from England, and US have put themselves in the clown dress of leading capitalism. Hopefully, looking that it won t finish as violent as any other. In a world where debt is creating money, where causal relation needs to be furthered deepened in order to go forward, yes, I am thankful to have had the privilege to follow an MBA. Especially after all the hammering we had as MBA students looking over financial times, economist rankings, that say nothing. An MBA is about what you do with it. You can decide to enjoy a free ride and a gap year, or you can push further the assumptions presented in front of you. The only thing I know is that I want to be here when this world gonna collapse. It will because yes it needs to be balanced better. Yes it is dangerous. In a world which saw dematerialization further, power of words are even stronger. I am hereby thankful for this MBA to have given me all inspiration from such wide topics. It is interesting, we should just keep always in mind which assumptions are taken as granted in the background. If the US were out of mind, out of the map, out of time, what would you miss? No, no easy way, no answer about history and how they saved us and played big brother looked over the family from Japan to Europe Really now what would you miss from the USA? Me nothing Entonces, se acabo : "we are all the same, we are all different" I first started to have this thought thinking eh what the hell, yes we've got our differences, yes we do value them, yes it should be bringing it altogether even better. Differences are what make us think differently. start it up all again. As he writes the title, Edward only finds in this basic common paradigm the sum up of his travels. He reflects on his path with another path, another metaphor. One week of discussion, one week where he met people in search of something personnal, one week in pushing the limits further, six days in silence, calm, disconnected from the modern world. A gift. This experience takes place on camino de Santiago, where during 10-11 hours, they were on the road, a road in el bosque, a road on macadam, a telegraph road linking the together, dots linking what has been performed so far. He entered the university as an engineer, a pragmatist. He started to use his goggle, to frame in a different way and understand whats lying around. First, the basics, finance, marketing, human resources, economics, how the organization works, he drew a map in his mind, he got lost in his questions. It appeared so complex, he finally decides to simplify it: A to B. As a theorist, he enjoyed drawing the fundamental nature of the numbers underlying it all. With cost accounting, he stopped on a subject he enjoyed: taking a photography of any given situation at time t, place l, environment y, people p p p p p p p p. No relation of hierarchy, students teachers, he felt he deserved the right like anyone around to speak on the same status, learning from the others, removing these reputation barriers and daring to ask what he has on his mind, the best way to learn and apply the learning. He finally understands more of the rational environment surrounding his reading in newspaper, nothing useful, his emotions get him to perceive the real world. It is his last spell on the university side, on this continuous stepping on the education ladder. All the stuff that is visible, the major part remaining gladly in the hidden part. Investing in himself, timely, economically, a huge investment. Still, as the walk reaches its ends, he is looking to this future rather than the payback time. Chapter 30: But Why Magic Bible of Arts? It might appear strange. I did only get the beginning first Art is a guaranty of. In total simplicity, I googled it: In this university trip, Edward understood that art are especially developed in time of peace. Yes, privilegizing art not only promotes peace of mind, it promotes discovery of oneself and the environment. At a time were digital looks like the only way of quick exchange, we will soon arrive at a time where feedback mechanism will be put in place. Yes, to any new discovery, TV, Radio, Car, everyone is getting first involved in it. Yes, because you have to. Still, in steady state, where does it go? After promoting my doppelganger on internet, I do admit my only pleasure would be to meet directly and face to face these persons, nothing more, nothing less, because more is less, and less is more. Would the world go this way? The western one did. But it has less and less weight. Business is a guaranty of nothing, generally sliding to excess. Why am I relying on arts? Nowadays, channels of communication are getting demultiplied. From Phone, Radio to TV, we are in the era of internet, mobile phones, direct interaction for a sum up. Because direct is a short circuit blowing the fuses, we will not act as rational as before. Our emotions are direct, our passion are now printed black and white on a piece of electronic fallacy. So that is the reason of the title: Art is guaranty of sanity. With it, we will witness the insanity. So here comes a story of the Big Bang that appeared mid-way to this curriculum, at a time where I needed to go outside to understand the inside. An MBA, defining what it is. Coming back to the roots, MBAs were created overseas in a country who hasnt enjoyed radiating its knowledge and knowhow in colonies. Good, at least didn't go as bad.

subject, discussed here and there, I am still surprise we are stopping to the same conclusion indicating us that the world is ruled by money and that it is negative. Still, Edward does agree with the general excess: Cash is king, Tax is queen, green not environmentally friendly and other too mathematical concepts.

As many philosophers put it forward, Nietzche in Ecce Homo, the human is attracted by his desire, most of us have to be first egoist before thinking of sharing. Why? We need a reward on what we are doing: money reward, feedbacks reward. It is bringing the subject of medium.

As French, Edward sets up the screenplay. Notes and physical guarantee (Gold, Silver,..) were disconnected at the early nineteenth century when Napoleon faced a deep economical crisis. Since then, money did not stop to be unlink from its once material guarantee. Money took a dominant place in any medium of exchange. Following up ownership of land in the middle-age, of the religious lyrics and other wealth, or seen as wealth by the population at the time, we are now arriving to a conclusion, that is drawn a lot in nowadays newspaper: Money is king, it has all powers, it is everywhere. And?

The financial world has now achieved the highest rank in the decision ladder, a ladder where China and India took a lift and are now truly superpowers as US, England or France were once. Looking forward, how can we bring the imbalance balanced? Politics have still a word, if a critical numbers of countries agree about it: Tax financial flow, especially when selling shares on the stockmarket, what we will it create, a quick unease when setting up, and the financial world will still find a way forward or only invest to opportunity providing them an ROI above their conceived WACC, and hence we could as idealist believe in a return of a possible stability there. One point to be made, I am not against shareholders at all, I am for responsible investment. As the idea is raised here and there, set up one exchange rate with possibly one developped currency, and one emerging currency, or as we know a mix of all 30% US 30% BRIC 30% Europe and the last 10% up for negotiations.

Like any play, the play of money needs rule. More than that, the play needs to be understood by everyone who wants to. Too complex nowadays. Well, yes these are ideas spoken in the past, a discussion into the future and possible a way out of the current mess, restabilising the whole system by its own means with the same techniques. To conclude, Jackson Pollock provided us with a view on where we are lying. Our imagination paves the way, and looking back on it, this painting looks as well like the complex world of finance, with flows everywhere. How can we get people interested in this contemporary world where we first look to be lost? Chapter 26: Arts, Media and Politics Stepping into the museum, Edward would entitle this artwork as the ideal world viewed by economy, no frontier, no barrier, an invisible hands drawing it around Arts had this feeling before the common experience it. This paintings of Jackson Pollock, all right reserved, is one of many. I found here the common disturbed conglomerate of where we are living nowadays. Linking to this, Edwardss spirit drifted to one world of communication. On one side, Media, On the other, Politics. Internet is a catalyst for such a move, in what we described a fast paced environment Fast-paced, and going everywhere, Medias cover everything from the latest cinema release, to the rereview of political elections and the latest chosen politics move. In such a world, the spectator is drown in disarray, and rather than getting clear information, is driven to a world of questions, essential and not.

Information are coming from everywhere, from every field, and transmitted to every one, or almost. Now how to focus and understand the picture lying around. Perceptions vary from one to the other. In the painting above, colors are taking Edward to perceive a forest, in autumn time, colors proficiently dynamising the whole picture. Now from one to the other, perceptions vary, change and discussion are raised and shared, and this painting, to keep the metaphor, give birth to another structure, to another environment. We can understand, or we can just ignore the mess around. Politics evolve in such a picture, attempting to assemble and disassemble key trend and focus one policy.

The public, having a view of the painting, walks through the understanding of the process, related through media and journalism. Still, at every political decisions, we rightly target the politics. Edward still wonder why when any problem rising around, protectionism, environmental concerns, financial imbalance. Social disarray, Edward wonders why only politics are mainly targeted. As he used to say, his political view is simple: If you know what you were doing, why did you do it? In a play of appearances, the elected ones are the closer to the stage, and the easier to relate. Edward cannot keep up with the pace around. Wkileaks, comments, internet news all around, Information is there. Now journalism has 2 future in front of them: Keep informing people objectively Informing and sharing a critical and constructive view on a subject While information needs to be treated objectively via mainstream media, Edward still thinks some medias, mainly written, should use their extensive network and knowledge to propose a way out of the information lying around. I would take there one to inform Lemonde courier International and others, and for example Marianne to not only criticize but build. This latter has an history of good analysis. Coming back to his home country, Edward would still like to have to face his personnal analysis and way forward, and built from there, where we are going. Why Marianne? Why them? 2 of my favorites authors. Still, I believe you will see the difference of the mood the readers is put in. I do agree part is due to the style of writing; still some is due to the language used. I keep repeating it, in English, with plenty of words only of one syllabus, hard to compete with multi-syllabus languages. It is kind of impacting the whole experience I believe, it is kind of helping making English the norm, as easier and more direct.

Fact? TV shows through the frame of the TV. Should you had a shitt* day, with rainy weather, and with problems on public transportation making you late. Even if this latter wasnt due to strikes, when looking to the information, which is nicely simplifying the frame for you, chances are that you will link one to the other, while it appears objectively there might have been no interrelation. Call me a philosopher; I prefer to consider myself as a pragmatist looking through the prism of everydays life. It helps understand, it helps being objective. So now, the big unknowns, searching a job, what is the frame of the human resources person looking to her/his emails? Values: work values giving the belief we need to be efficient. Hence good chance, you will be the 100th applicants to the jobs, and the screening will be quick. List your arguments; it can depend of so many things we cannot control.

Example: HR in Paris or any other big cities, 20% of chance your application will be first reviewed by a filter person or an intern, who came to work by metro and started its day at 8. Either you are read at 8.30 or at 10.30 after a coffee break and chitchat with others, or at the end of the day. Would you dare to be original given the high risk that the person might not be receptive to fancy description during 75% of the day? Would you write a novel? Speak about your childhood? Or get it over bullet points?

As a writer, I still aim to offer a break possibly to the reader of my covering letter, if going that far. Yes I am searching a job, and yes as a writer, I still want the nicely disposed and written paragraph, a flow that leads you to the conclusion: not a torrent, not an ocean, not a small river, they are not salmons; they need a break, if I dare use the image. Given that most of the times, we will not be aware of what is happening in the environment and the context of the others, reading news, and keeping update of the frame, demographic and geographic, is of first help. I still do believe one would advertise and communicate better through the numerous channels of communication we know have by being true to him/her. You have your values, your beliefs. Communication is about interaction, and misunderstandings are so easy to be created, that it’s easier to kiss it (Kiss: keep it simple and stupid).

Education-wise, first school I am where participation weighs as much as any assessments on what you understood. Yes with that kind of structure, ten years ago, I would be entering Oxford hands up and would not have felt the necessity to carry out an MBA. Networking-wise, follow the path traced, I am blessed with the gift of empathy. I know they will be the first persons to leave the boat if something happens. Why trusting these guys? On one side, not taking sometimes irrational decisions by building up the understanding and knowledge of what we are working into, on the other side, lift the hand, and include people in the key strategical decisions. Yes the owner of the company are the owners of the stockholders equity, but hey, does an investment fund is value adding to the revenue streams of a company? No, so focus on what is adding value to your company. As said earlier,

I am coming from the manufacturing industry, and the first amazement I had was on the number of people within the industry that were syndicated and the objective criticism side I can bring in that. Being part of a trade union or not can go as far as preventing you to go up in the hierarchy or promote you much quicker through this social ladder. I do believe trade unions are required for large corporations with many employees (above a large number from my guesstimate of a not estimated rough line) I wanted to make my point there, and see how we, all, can build on this criticism (positive and negative).

Trade unions are one of the main articulation tools between top management and general employees, and the extent and usefulness of this coordination tool should not be hindered by its only negative impact, and the resentment from the customer point of view. One example within the MBA University is as basics as having delegates for each section. I believe trade unions are coming from that simple idea. I would have liked to live in a perfect world where less governments regulations to improve the market and where a company is mainly providing positive effects, but let's face the truth, I am not, and I won't lie to myself regarding that, so here comes again the conclusion: people are the key. And here now, I am wondering if there are any trade unions in the financial and investment world.

Maybe it is this lack of control systems which couldn't control the greediness around. Maybe it is the way Edward is looking at it Approach with rush, a story of framing Fact: The current strikes in France Communication is midly rational and utterly emotional, a transition that came with the global connection. After a week off, Edward came back to class, looking to enhance his communication potential, the major help in articulating a given strategy involving the required stakeholders along. Because perceptions are changing from one to the others. Because we evolve in the same era but in different environment. Forced to avoid? No. I only remember one thing when I do participate to a discussion, online, offline. I listen to the others, I make my first key points clear to build on, and most of all, I am doing my best to understand the context around. Everything is an iceberg. Chapter 22: Trait dunion, a legend on trade unions

I hereby want to build on some constructive criticism on one field I changed my mind of. I have been asked too much to stand against that I deeply feel I have to stand for at some point. Obviously, I am like everybody else I like to take my train on time, land on an airport on time, get all different services on time, and facing strikes (which is only one of several actions trade unions might be taking during a year), I am switching to another mode, not even understanding the roots of the strikes, just turning my face to other field of interest, reading being the first one. Time has a value, not money wise, but certainly in capacity. So concerning trade unions, I am coming from a country quite known from that. In fact, I even believe now strikes are coming even before gourmet food, and nice way of life in mind of the public.

I do understand the negative impact of trade unions, but I still want to emphasize the positive points, as I have been thinking a little bit about it since our last business case. yes they are demanding sometimes too much, but again it s showing the weighing between Loyalty, Exit and Voice, and trade unions even if sometimes are fighting on too many fronts are definitely a good filter to this voice, and can extend to the community and control at an early stage any externalities that might arise. cards it has in hands, The EU plays independently, relying on its very creative and skilled workforce. World is then going to an over-protectionism between these three main trade areas. Economically, crises are getting common and repeated every six years. These latter are coming from the US, from Europe, from China. It is the only time where all key actors are gathering towards a global goal. The development to a fully developed world is hence slow, and the pace is only kept via series of financial hick-ups, destroying value rather than sustaining it. Politically, social democracy is a model that has been left to aging Europe.

China is keeping control on the economy tight, refusing to appreciate the Yuan, the USA are kept in their four-years storm with slow political breakthrough In the other scenario, Europe keeps its role as a key agent of liaison to clarify misunderstandings between the East and the West. Thanks to its highly skilled population, they are striving forward new room for development. Renewable energy machinery is manufactured in Asia under the impulse of China; it is then traded to both Europe and the US for further development and applications.

US are a key partner in developing the EU to the East, gathering forces from traditional countries, getting the United Kingdom and Russia under the free trade zone implemented under the EU. Euro is the main worldwide monetary system, and has taken over the dollars. Asia now has the Yuan, and the US and South America keeps their dollarization. The G20 is reduced to a G3 (EU, US, Asian region under the impulse of China). Trade disagreements are addressed quickly. The negotiations are successfully supporting transfer of technology from the West to the East, enabling a better, and equally distributed wealth globally.

Diversity and negotiation are held under the scope of EU managing now the WTO primarily coming from the long history EU had with diversity. It enables Africa through old colonies to strengthen the ties with China and the Asian region, in a Win-Win situation. Rather than protectionism, World now works on the synergies and enables a fruitful and efficient trade negotiation between all key actors. Economically, the three trades zones are negotiating efficiently through three unique voices coming from the three regions: the USA, Europe and Asia. Politically, the USA understands the key advantages of social democracy within Western Europe, and tailors their capitalism as such. Under these impulses, China is obliged to review and develop its model to a widened social capitalism. To conclude, on both sides, the EU has to develop even more its critical mass to fit in line with the development of China from developing to developed countries.

Europe grows bigger overlooking to the coordination the global system, developing critical technology and social breakthrough. Social-Democracy can or may not be included by the other players. In one case, it limits and slows the global development ahead, in the other it does support general consensus regarding trade, economical situation and efficient action for part of the world subject to crisis in the future. Given all the history from which Europe is living from, I would always be a pro-European. What about the unhappy ones, life is not about being happy every single day, but about thinking and living the future to the present, a nice gift.

In the first scenario, China, the US continues to develop themselves and their trade independently, keeping reinventing the wheel, missing social and political breakthrough. China develops its African base; the US takes a hand on South America, Russia and the EU are unsuccessfully attempting to develop their strength together as to face the fierce competitive markets and trades. The United Kingdom finally agrees against their will to enter the EU monetary system, as they see the need for a critical mass to have a voice in this world. At every single gathering, the EU, the US and South America, China and Russia evolves in their own market able to sustain their development growth:
