Magic Bible Arts – Extrait 3

Y parvenir est ton unique but.

 Chapter 1: Draw the line

Before entering this new world, Edward goes to his psychotherapist.

Voix off - This time, I would like you to draw a line, simple as that. Edgar - I am taking a ruler and trace an exact distance from the midpoint I am coming to the midpoint I am going to. Lise - I decide to draw it, but it would be more a spline, what s the point of reaching B straight away. Jérome - I draw a circle, and turn it around, and around, and around. Louis - What is the purpose of the line? Is it a limit? Voix off - No. it's just a line, you can decide its purpose. Edgar - Able to do it in three dimensions? Voix off - No it is going to design a wall, society got already enough. Jérome - and a pyramid, the line could be continuous and forwarded to three dimensions? Voix off - That's a good point, but no, we've got to keep it simple: Draw the line and mind the gap. Lise - Can we write on the line? Voix off - Yep, if the line is not getting discontinuous. Lise - Nobody will understand it though, Space between is what understanding needs. Voix off - I don't decide, I just put the frame in place Edgar - Ok, let's get it fun, I am using nine different pens, of nine different width, and nine different colors. Voix off - Here we come, it starts to be interesting. Jérome - and why nine? Edgar - the number of pages I would need to draw it on Jérome - Why? Edgar - For an SOS, gathering three points of suspension. I don't understand the rules. By folding three of them carefully I can draw a straight line on each and get a nice recognizable SOS to understand why we do need to draw a line. I am happy about it, but I don't understand it. Lise - and on what kind of support are we drawing that? Jérome - yes, very true, could be the ground, a wall, an imaginary space, a body, a TV screen. Voix off - your choice. Lise - Ok if we are going this way, I am drawing a white line on a white support paper. Jérome - What's the point? Lise - There is no point, just a line. Jérome - yes, Ok, Thanks. What's the meaning of it? Lise - I leave to the imagination of the reader to interpret what he sees. Jérome - so ok, a white piece of paper Lise - Malevich did that all right and attract a lot. Jérome - so you decide to take the subject further. You must be an artist. Lise - In my spare time It is relaxing. Edgar - I am drawing a circle with twelve increments. Lise - yep, that would be a clock with no pins. Meaning time is tasteless and offers total freedom.
